50 Awards up for grabs at the recently announced Bulawayo Arts Awards
It is award season yet again and the Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) are back again and this time with a massive 50 gongs to honour exceptional individuals and collaborative artistic efforts in the city of Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South.
Roil has partnered as the sponsor of the esteemed awards that will be held June 29, at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) hall 4. Nominations have opened to the public and will close on 1 May 2019. Nominees will be announced on May 31 and voting will close June 26. Nominations can be done on the Arts Awards’ website: www.byoarts-awards.org.
The BAA are now in their third year and the event was launched as a means to compliment the efforts being made to recognise and honour artists from the Matabeleland region. This year’s awards maintained the 12 categories and also announced 5 new awards. The new additions include Outstanding Music Producer, Outstanding Arts Personality from outside of Bulawayo, Outstanding Choral Music Group, Outstanding Arts Educator (Primary School) and Outstanding Artist in the Community.
The BAA have become popular with all the glitz and glamour that adds an extra spark to the ‘City of Kings and Queens’, and this year will be no exception especially with the addition of more awards
