Male dominated music industry tough for the girl child to explore remarks Memory Zaranyika
Memory Zaranyika is a female afro musician and songwriter who stepped into the music scene during the urban groove era, 2004 and got her first break from the song ‘Bhogo Bhogo’ a song of abortion.
Memory has continued on her musical journey and has written many songs which she is now bringing to life and has since released an album entitled ‘Down Memory Lane’. Memory Zaranyika now known as Zanta has grown musically and is still embarking on her journey which will see her to greater heights
She revealed to OyOsNews that, “The music industry is currently male-dominated and l would want to change that by a ratio of 1:1 all things being equal and to see myself smiling all the way to the bank because my music would have been heard and paid for. l would like my music to be heard internationally and locally and for every one to appreciate me for my originality and see my hard work paying off.”
“The industry has been tough for the girl child as she faces many obstacles along the way and to get to the top she has to offer more than just her voice in some cases never reaching her goals because of either being used by the potential promoter or shortchanged. The music industry has its challenges and you need to be tough which is why the male has dominated it but l beg to differ and believe that if one is steadfast and disciplined you can achieve all your dreams, all the way to the top”
