CARRINGTON Simbarashe Chiwadzwa AKA Nutty O Born is a dancehall artist straight out of Zimbabwe. Nutty started to record professionally at Cashlibs Studio when he was 21. That is when the mustard seed was planted as his career has been on a progressive growth since then. It was not long before radio stations and the general public started showing some love for Nutty O’s musical creations.
He was the first Zimbabwean artist to be featured on Dj. Edu’s Afrodancehall show on BBC 1xtra with his track Kwandabva Kure.
The track also made it to the top of the DNA chart and climbed to the number three spot. This was a great motivation for Nutty O.
Nutty O has performed alongside Jamaican dancehall sensation, Charly Black and has shared the stage with the likes of Mafikizolo.
He was in 2016 nominated as the most promising Zimdancehall artist. It was the first time an artist singing in English and got such recognition on that platform.
Of note Nutty O is the only artist to feature on Jamaican Etana’s album dropping March 8 titled Reggae Forever.
He described it as one of his greatest achievement thus far stating that his hard work is starting to pay off.
“I am working so hard to gain recognition from the international scene and to be on Etana’s album is on the best ability of my work,” he said.
He is looking forward to working with other Jamaican artists with the same nature that of Etana, said Nutty O.
Recently, he won the Power FM project where a few artists were nominated to represent Zimbabwe at the “Rise and Shine Africa Project” to be held in Cote D’ivoire.
“It is such a great honour to receive such national confirmation as a suitable music ambassador.
“It has left me in high spirits as this has come as a confirmation that there are multitudes out following the movement.
“Now the aspiration is to make sure the confined masses are not limited of great music,” he said.
International reggae star Etana will release her much anticipated "Reggae Forever" album on March 8th, International Woman's Day! 2018
"Reggae Forever" is authentic Roots and Culture, Reality and Lovers Rock at its best. Coming from Etana, one of the leading voices in reggae music and an unconventional songwriter whose lyrics span the spectrum of the sensual to the spiritual, the cultural to the political, and the album will certainly move many, said Nutty O.
Etana often called the Strong One, is a ground-breaking artist who continues to tread her own path, shattering expectations with 14 inspiring new songs. The album’s first track sets the mood for the set with riddim, melody, lyrics and soulful vocalizing.
