OyOsMusic finally arrives
The music industry lies in wait for the launch of Zimbabwe's first ever online music store set to take place this Friday. Since the online store and app became active when it was announced on Star FM on the 14th of February this year, OyOsMusic is going to have its official physical launch on the 14th of July at the Star FM studios. Preparations have already been made and organizers predict it is going to be a spectacular evening not only for the guests attending but for anybody who happens to have a playing hand in the music industry as the brand looks to remould the landscape of our music industry.
The launch is set to be a cocktail red carpet event, star-studded with Zimbabwe's finest local artists. People expected to attend include Pastor G, Hwindi President, The UFIC Choir, Killer T, Stunner, Tocky Vibes, Takura, ExQ, Mathias Mhere and Janet Manyowa among many distinguished guests set to grace the occasion. Among these is Hon Min Supa Mandiwanzira who will be the guest of Honour at the launch of the product. The night will also feature several performances from many of our local artists namely Tamy, Stunner, Goodchild, Cindy and Sandra Ndebele among many other artists. The event is set to be hosted by RK alongside Star FM’s DJ Nikki in an event that will run from 1700hrs up until 2100hrs that very evening. The upcoming launch was made possible by a brilliant team of sponsors namely CBZ, Star FM, Jam Jan, Sterkinekor, Zimhost Web designers, Tropical Sound and Music Distributors, The Volt, Bhello City Foods, Empire Styling, Grantpack printing and Bilebanal.
To date the brand has already made quite a hefty list of achievements which they set out to celebrate at the event chiefly, succeeding in giving out its first quarterly payouts and the progression it has made in the on-going fight against music piracy in our country. The very heart of the whole gathering, however, is to celebrate the brand finally coming to life, the love of our very own homegrown music and how well received it has been by the Zimbabwean community. To date, OyOsMusic has signed over 132 artists and the online store has currently over 6000 songs accessible by the Zimbabwean community in all parts of the world. The music is available on their website (www.oyosmusic.co.zw) or the Android app available on the Google Play Store (“OyOsMusic”). To support our local artists, one can simply browse, preview, select and pay for the track of their choice.
OyOsMusic aims to do things differently however from most online markets. It primarily focuses on the niche market in Zimbabwe and has managed to simplify the sale of music by integrating various payment methods. The mother company (ZIMHOST Web designers) which has over 12 years experience and manages a convenient site for all artists to use which is transparent and allows them to log In and self manage as well. The brand aims for corporates to endorse music and ultimately, usher in music purchasing culture and prevent free distribution of music on SoundCloud, Reverbnation and social media.
Several individuals have already confirmed that they are going to attend the event and the music industry lies in anticipation for the launch event. It is more than just the unveiling of a new product but rather the start of a new era.
