Zimbabwe something is brewing- watch out for the women in music
In a nation where the place of women in the music industry has been deemed still fragile, 2019 promises a whole new turn of events as women in music have not only broken out of their shells but have united to come up with a one-of-a-kind album dubbed ‘#Let’s Celebrate Women’. The album will feature 51 women, consisting of nine tracks from seven genres incuding women from five cities.
This initiative comes at a time when a wave of feminism has hit the society and the urge to break social norms is even stronger. This album will show women helping each other to earn a top spot, something which for years has been an undeniable setback for many women in the industry.
In an interview with the OyOsNews team, one of the pioneers, Florence Nyamazana aka The Lioness, pointed out how this ‘movement’ is set to change perceptions and open a new era for female artists.
“This time women have made it big- men must watch out”, said The Lioness.
The album is set to be released on 8 March and will feature artists such as Edith WeUtonga, Lioness, Lipsy, Kadjah, Tendai Chimombe and many more.
